Should humans be eating a meat-free diet?

After previously researching lots about diet and what is best for our bodies, I began to question is meat healthy for humans? Coming from someone who eats meat pretty regularly, it can be hard to to completely cut meat from a diet, but the benefits of a meat-free diet might be worth it. Many think the only real source of protein comes from meat, but you can receive enough protein through things like beans and nuts. In a study done by Harvard University, they found that “eating a vegetarian diet reduced the overall risk of all cancers compared with eating a non-vegetarian diet” also “vegetarian diets were associated with a 12% lower risk of death from all causes—not just cancer”. If going vegetarian is too hard, a better diet is the Mediterranean diet. The Mediterranean diet consists of daily servings of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and healthy fats, with weekly fish, poultry and beans, moderate dairy and limited red meat. The worst kind of meat is red meat, so avoiding red meat is the easiest and best way to stay healthy. Overall becoming vegetarian is healthier for the human body, but because of how hard it can be, limiting your intake of meat is helpful.
